John Evans, FNP
 
John Evans is a Family Nurse Practitioner and has been on the staff of Eastern Plumas Health Care since August 1999. John received his RN degree from Wenatchee Valley College in Wenatchee, Washington. He was awarded a BSN and MSN from California State University in Fresno, California. He was the first nurse and student to win the Claude C. Laval Jr. Award for Innovative Research and Technology at California State University, Fresno. He has served on the staff of Sierra Community Hospital, Fresno, California; Indian Valley Hospital, Greenville, California; Plumas Community Clinic, Quincy, California; Plumas County Jail, Quincy, California; Greenville Medical Clinic, Greenville, California. At Eastern Plumas Health Care in Portola Mr. Evans sees patients at the Portola and Graeagle Medical Clinics and in a new service EPHC provides at the Feather River Middle School.
 
David R. Gilliam, MD
 
Dr. David Gilliam recently joined the staff of Eastern Plumas Health Care at the Portola Medical Clinic. Dr. Gilliam comes to us from Fairfield where he had a private practice. His specialty is Family Practice. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Arkansas and his Medical Degree from the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Gilliam completed his internship at Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento. He is listed in the “Guide to America’s Top Family Doctors”. He was a Ronald Reagan Gold Medal Recipient Nominee. Dr. Gilliam is an Honorary Member of California’s Physicians’ Advisory Board. He is an Eagle Scout and belongs to The Order of the Arrow Honorary Society, Boy Scouts of America.
 
Sharon M. Malotte, MD
 
Dr. Sharon M. Malotte, MD Is a family practice and internal medicine physician with broad experience in emergency medicine and geriatrics, as well. She started seeing patients in the Portola Medical Clinic in November. Dr. Malotte has also agreed to be the Medical Director for the Portola SNF.

She is a graduate of Stanford University and the University of North Dakota, School of Medicine. She completed her residency at the Internal Medicine Residency of UCSF-Fresno Program and the University of Nevada at Reno. Dr. Malotte is a Native American with a strong affinity for rural life. In fact, she and her sixth grade daughter Darcy are both involved in rodeo events and are looking forward to being an integral part of our community.

 
Shari Schmidt PA-C
 
Shari graduated from the Physician Assistant Program at the University of California, Davis. Her specialty is Family Practice.

Shari has been with the Loyalton Medical Clinic since November, 2003. In addition to family medicine, she has had 12 years of Emergency Room experience.

On Tuesdays, she brings her Golden Labrador Retriever, Whitney, to the Skilled Nursing Facility in Loyalton to spend the day with the residents who adore her.
