At a recent presentation to EPHC\u2019s Medical Staff, Dr. Desai (Chest Pain Center Medical Director at Renown, Reno) explained that it\u2019s beneficial for patients to have a copy of their EKG with them if they become ill or are admitted to the emergency room. <\/p>\n<p>If a patient\u2019s EKG is abnormal, it\u2019s impossible to know if the abnormalities are old or new unless a patient has a previous EKG for their doctor to refer to. If the change isn\u2019t something new, the patient won\u2019t have to undergo the expense and inconvenience of unnecessary treatment and diagnostic studies. Patients must sign a release of medical records prior to receiving a copy of their EKG.
