EPHC Provides Copies of EKGs to Patients

March 28, 2011

Eastern Plumas Health Care will provide its patients with copies of their EKGs beginning on April 4. At a recent presentation to EPHC’s Medical Staff, Dr. Desai (Chest Pain Center Medical Director at Renown, Reno) explained that it’s beneficial for patients to have a copy of their EKG with them if they become ill or are admitted to the emergency room.

If a patient’s EKG is abnormal, it’s impossible to know if the abnormalities are old or new unless a patient has a previous EKG for their doctor to refer to. If the change isn’t something new, the patient won’t have to undergo the expense and inconvenience of unnecessary treatment and diagnostic studies. Patients must sign a release of medical records prior to receiving a copy of their EKG. We encourage our patients to take advantage of this free service.
